DOSAGE

• Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): The usual adult dose is 200 mg once daily in the morning. Modalert 200 mg is used to improve wakefulness and should be taken alongside the primary treatment for sleep apnea, such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), when prescribed.
• Shift Work Sleep Disorder (SWSD): The usual adult dose is 200 mg taken approximately one hour before the start of the work shift.

SIDE EFFECTS

Modafinil might also interact with the following: Antifungal medications such as Itraconazole, Ketoconazole; Barbiturates like phenobarbital; Carbamazepine; Diazepam; Phenytoin; Cyclosporine; Anticoagulants like warfarin and Beta blockers like propranolol.
It can also have an interaction with dietary compounds like grapefruit or grapefruit juice, alcohol and caffeine. 

PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS 

• If you are sexually active, birth control pills and other birth control with hormones might not work as well. Use a second kind of birth control while you are taking this medicine.
• If you feel nervous or shaky or have a fast heartbeat, try drinking fewer beverages with caffeine in them. These include coffee, cola drinks and some other sodas, energy drinks, and tea. Chocolate also has caffeine in it.
• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.
• Do not operate heavy equipment or drive a car until you see how this medicine affects you.
• Not recommended in patients with a history of stimulant or substance misuse
• Do not self-administer the medication.
